Alex Emmons is a multimedia artist and designer with a body of work spanning a wide range of mediums, connected by an interest in distorting or re-contextualizing the familiar. Emmons’ work seeks to reconcile the dichotomies that comprise the world we live in, and create a unique feeling found in the intersection of seemingly oppositional concepts. Drawing inspiration from, Subjectivity vs Objectivity, industrial complexes, Rags (and their intrinsic value), American kitsch aesthetics, and the cycle of life and death, he aims to reinterpret through the cross pollination of dichotomous signifiers. Making work that suggests degradation, balanced by modern structural elements, he utilizes ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media. Alex continues to experiment, with the ultimate goal of finding new and unique syntheses of concept and form.
